Did you know that the best time for renovating and updating your home is winter time? You probably are saying now "whaaaaaat are you talking about Matilda"? :) i can understand your skepticism, but from many years of dealing with different contractors, in different areas, we found out that the contractors charge less during winter months, than from doing renovations in spring/summer time. Why? it is simple, a supply and demand, of course:)
During the winter months, not many people are in "the mood" to renovate and contractors are not busy, so they will likely take any job and charge less.
Most of people who are looking to renovate their home plan on doing it during the spring/summer months, when the weather is nice etc, so therefore, contractors will be busy and asking more money for the same work.
Another thing, if they get too busy, some of them will take more than one job at the same time, and your project might run much longer than if they did it during the winter time. (if they are reading this, they are likely hating me right now, to which i say PPPPFFFFFFF. 🤪)
I know that some of contractors are shaking their heads now, and saying I'm wrong. And, yes, there are many great and honest contractors out there, but even they know that there are quite few of contractors who will do exactly what I'm saying, and they are throwing a dark shadow on this industry.
There are some good contractors and some not-so-good contractors. Similar what we have in any industry, including real estate, of course. Some of us are great and go beyond and above for their clients, and unfortunately, there are some who are not thinking and working in their clients' best interest.
So, what are your goals for your home for the new year? Remember, money spent on home improvements is not like spending money on a vacation or a car (although i love both of those) – there’s an opportunity for a significant return on your investment. So, if a home improvement is part of your new year’s goals, now is a good time to start shopping for a reputable contractor before they get booked up.
